The Frugal Pilot: How to Fly on a Budget by Dan Ramsey is a comprehensive how-to book on flying, learning to fly, and maintaining an aircraft on a budget. The Frugal Pilot covers the basics of aircraft maintenance and training, and takes one through all of the steps and processes involved in maintaining this so-called expensive hobby. The Frugal Pilot is divided into various detailed chapters and sub-chapters that cover the A-Z of flying, including licensing, flying clubs, bartering and trading, insurance, co-piloting, partnerships, as well as the actual mechanics of flying and aircraft maintenance, repair, and servicing.

The Frugal Pilot: How to Fly on a Budget by Dan Ramsey contains an astonishing level of detail and it is obvious that the author is very knowledgeable as well as passionate about flying. Not only does The Frugal Pilot cover the mechanics and maintenance of aircrafts, but almost as importantly, it covers the logistics and the financial aspects necessary to make this a feasible and affordable hobby. There are also several short tips dispersed throughout the book. Because of the detailed table of contents structure, it is easy to read the book in any order, which I found useful. All in all, The Frugal Pilot: How to Fly on a Budget by Dan Ramsey is an excellent guide to flying and should have all of the information that anyone would need to become a pilot.
